Barcelona sealed their second consecutive La Liga title with a commanding 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick in the ninth minute, curling the ball into the top corner, before Ferran Torres doubled the lead just nine minutes later.
Jude Bellingham thought he had pulled one back for Real Madrid in the second half, but his goal was ruled out for offside. The visitors struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match, while Barcelona threatened to add more goals, only for Thibaut Courtois to produce fine saves to deny Rashford and Torres.
The El Clasico win lifted Barcelona 14 points clear at the top of the table with just three games remaining, leaving them on course to potentially finish the season with 100 points.
It was an emotional triumph for manager Hansi Flick, who learned of his father’s passing over the weekend. “I will never forget this day,” Flick said. “It was a tough day for me. It starts with the news that my father passed away, but here, my team were fantastic. I really love it—this is like a family, and they gave everything today. I’m incredibly proud. Winning La Liga in this stadium, against Real Madrid in El Clasico, is amazing.”
The defeat added to a turbulent week for Real Madrid, who remain without Kylian Mbappe as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Midfielders Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni were each handed hefty fines after being involved in a training ground altercation that reportedly left the Uruguayan hospitalized.
