The Catalan side defeated Real Madrid 2–0 at home in the 35th round of the Spanish league, clinching the title with matches to spare. “Champions! Long live Barcelona!” the Argentine forward wrote on social media. Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, played for Barcelona from 2003 to 2021, winning four UEFA Champions League titles and numerous other honors during his time at the club.
