The match’s only goal came in the 72nd minute when Monaco’s Denis Zakaria turned the ball into his own net. Golovin started the game but was substituted off in the 59th minute.
With 54 points, Monaco currently sit in seventh place in the Ligue 1 standings. The top three teams at the end of the French championship earn direct spots in the Champions League group stage, while the fourth-placed side secures a place in the qualifying rounds for Europe’s elite club competition. Lyon, occupying fourth place, have 60 points and are six points ahead of Monaco.
