Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has spoken out about a controversial moment during the La Liga match against Barcelona. In the early stages of the second half, Barcelona defender Eric García appeared to strike Jude Bellingham in the face with his elbow inside the penalty area. Referees did not award a foul, despite the Real Madrid midfielder suffering a bloodied face as a result.

“It seemed obvious to me that there was an elbow, and we will have to ask why the VAR did not intervene,” Arbeloa said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona secured a 2-0 victory at home, with goals from Marcus Rashford (9′) and Ferran Torres (18′). The win clinched the La Liga title for the Catalans, who now lead the table with 91 points. Real Madrid remain in second place.
