The move came a day after Dominguez slammed into the outfield wall while making a leaping catch during the first inning of New York’s 9-2 win over the Texas Rangers.

Jones, a 6-foot-7 left-handed hitter, was joined by right-hander Kervin Castro in being recalled from Triple-A. Jones, who turns 25 on May 14, was selected by the Yankees in the first round (25th overall) of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt. In 33 games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he is batting .258 with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs. He is ranked as the organization’s No. 6 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised Jones’s recent performance: “The last three or four weeks have been a lot of consistent at-bats. The power has been there; less swing and miss, which is some of the things we were seeing a little bit in spring training. After that second week in Triple-A where he struggled a little bit with swing and miss, he’s cleaned that up. He’s put himself in the mix.”

Dominguez, 23, is batting .200 (6-for-30) with one home run and four RBIs in nine games with the Yankees this season. Castro, 27, holds a 1-0 record with two saves and a 3.14 ERA in 11 relief appearances for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
